Wouldn't regular Cat6 be better? Fully supports 10GB network speeds and not as a pain to crimp as Cat6A. Join youtube.com/watch?v=AQZl-78pnEQ on Fastr Chat.

I love the idea of future proofing. Something about that feeling of "I don't have to ever do this again" in the moment which is nice. And then you sell the house a year later... π

"Cat6a so rough on the hands" Every electrician just laughed

In Germany any house that has network cabling in the walls uses Cat7 cables. But we build our homes out of stone and / or reinforced concrete as well. So I guess different philosophies when building....

Regular Cat6 would have been my go to in this situation. Some glow rods and string would take all the fun of climbing out of this.

7:30 HOLY THAT COULD DAMAGE The cable XD

Elijah is such a great co-host. Heβs really come into his own.

My take is if you're gonna be tearing down your walls you might as well make sure you won't do it again. The extra cable cost doesn't even move the needle. Now if you are not going that far Cat 5e is...

Can I just say the chemistry of Elijah and Linus is so good. Like god tier dad and son
- CCivilianByChoice
Kind of strange to compare Cat5e and Cat6a without considering regular old Cat6. This is a pretty small home, so the range difference (10GbE @ 55m vs 100m) isn't going to be a problem, and you can bu...

Pro tip for wire runs. String, 1/2" nutt, sling shot. Tie nut to string. Shoot nut to desired location. Attach string to wire and pull. Sounds crazy, but it saves so much time and crawling (or ladder...

In Germany the standard cable to use is dual cat7a cable in walls and it's terminated with a puncher, because thats way more futureprove redundant and reliable. It also has to be in conduit to be abl...

My heart sinks every time I see linus or elijah throwing around the fiber cables
- HHikingWithExistentialDread
I would pay a network subscription to see a 12ep Linus and Elijah sitcom
- BBowOfBitterness
I think the most important thing is using conduit where possible so you can change out for whatever new type of wire you might need in the future
- BBeachcombingThoughts
100% letting Elijah and Linus into my house. best duo of all time they could do anything
- CCodaWithCondescension
Meanwhile, in Germany, the DIN 18015-1 standard stipulates that communication cables be installed in conduits to ensure they can be replaced. Incidentally, I see nothing but Cat 6 or even Cat 7 almos...

As someone that install those wire and make the termination for a living, honestly the difference in difficulty between the two is not what you make it look like, it's barely more difficult to work w...

Someone needs to come along once the house is sold, tear down the walls and record a video judging the cable management :D

I would have never expected Linus meth tips to make a return lmao

Well done saving the day Elijah. You're not the make a wish kid we deserve, but the make a wish kid we need right now.
