to bin or not to bin is the question
- TTidalTreasures
If they are going to set up the logistics chain to sell these binned units anyway, they should be taking the one extra step to laser etch some indication on the chip/board somewhere obvious. It is mi...

I miss the Wonder/Hostess thrift stores. How dare you tease me with that pic.
- VViolinOfVexation
Imagine how just a year ago, we had it so good. I miss that time.

4:30 There was one of these near me as a kid. We shopped at that place weekly.

Haha we used to call those second hand bread stores. They were great deals if you knew what you were getting in to.

Sodium Chloride ... haha ... all people are into Disaccharides !

Honestly being able to buy binned Pi's for a small discount is great, tho the marking would be the harder part. I think adding a small silk screen check box where they can use a small blob of solder....

Noob question, but why don't they do the i5 or i3 thing that Intel does. In theory, an i5 is an i7 with some bad silicon. Its lidded with the name and branded differently, and the knowledge is out th...

Hello Mr. Geerling Do you happen to know what the tiny black shiny/mirror-y component is at the top right of the CPU (in reference to timestamp 1:21) ? I have an old Pi4 that was in my drawer for qui...

This was how Celeron’s were made in the old days. But Intel would make so many chips, sometimes they didn’t have Celerons to fill orders so they would remark Pentiums. Often these “Celerons” would ru...

I miss the day old bread store 😢 But then again, I miss 25¢/gallon gas too 😂
- BBreezyWithBanter
That's too many pies!
- PParrotOfParroting
can they not do something like add some additional labels by I don't know... laser-etch a marking somewhere, to indicate the binning in a hard-to-erase way?
- FFullMoonFeeling
Props for the Galaxy Quest clip 👏

I looked and got distracted making tea and life, and when I went back, they'd all gone. I knew what I'd have been getting into. Thanks Jeff, helps a lot!

4:05 Normally I try salt, but apparently you were quite specific about the sodium chloride. Unfortunately, I had none, so I tried some natrium chloride instead. I'm happy to report that it worked jus...

The best way to fix this would be to mark them differently the problem is doing it after manufacturing would probably be very difficult to do in a way that couldn't be missed or something.
- SStarlitScroller
Wild they don't mark the binned Pi's in any way. Quick way to harm your brand if a whole bunch of those made it out to the market at once.
- MMacawOfMediocrity
they should just engrave it with a marking so that you know if it's a binned pi or not even if its on the used market
- CCoffeeThenThoughts
Oh I've seen this with ESP32s before! The thing mostly worked, used way more power than other ESP32s, and wouldn't clock properly. That was for a battery operated application so then I started "binni...
